I agree with Reggie Miller?!?!

Kobe scores 61 pts. vs Knicks

Kobe scores 61 pts. vs Knicks

Let me start off by saying, I hate Reggie Miller as a player.  Every time he played the Celtics I would heckle and despise his every movement.  From his baseline to baseline flops through screens, his cocky attitude and litte prissy ways.  I couldn’t stand the guy.  Every time he touched the ball he got boo’ed but he’d still hit his shots.  In no way would we embrace Reggie Miller in the Garden even today.  Not even if he smacked Bill Lambeer on a TNT broadcast.  Ok, maybe if he smacked Bill Lambeer and Ulf Samuelson, then I would consider an ovation.
After Monday night’s “MVP” chants in Madison Square Garden by Knicks fans, Reggie supposedly texted back and forth with Spike Lee.  His first text being “Oh how the mighty have fallen.”   He goes on to say he knows he never got cheered there and Jordan probably never got cheered.  Basically saying that Madison Square Garden has lost it’s luster and toughness.  To welcome an outsider like Kobe with an MVP chant after he just threw 61 points on the home team is weak.  Spike Lee went on to say “‘Look, times have changed. The climate has changed.'”

I think Spike is missing the point here.  New York is a tough town!  No one should come in there and get applause like that.  Come on!  I hate New York, I hate it even more now that they cheered for Kobe.  In good or bad days(like the current Knicks times), you have to support your team.  Great performances like Kobe’s on monday warrant boos and silence.  Take a note from your Yankee comrades and leave the game early.  But in no way should you be cheering for a one man team that is Kobe.  I respect him as a player but if he did that in my hometown, I’d be pissed.  That’s why you choose to root for a team like the Knicks(do people still cheer for the Knicks?), for nights when Kobe comes to town and you harass his ass until he flops.  Now replace Kobe with Paul Pierce scoring 61…you still cheering now?  Didn’t think so.  I can’t believe I agree with Reggie Miller.  Now that’s tough to swallow.

This week in the NBA

Not so Lucky!

Not so Lucky!

This week in the NBA, with so much time off and money piling up, Stephon Marbury decided to hold an online chat.  He basically explained his side of the holdout and proclaimed to the academy that he is not a selfish player.  He did support his cause saying

“I have averaged eight assists per game throughout my career.”  Good stat but he did show up late to the chat.  Not the best start to my Celtics approval interview.

The Shaq and Kobe feud is more like a Forrest Gump and Jenny relationship.  They go together like peas and carrots!  Shaq assured us all that the media made up the whole feud and it’s just another marketing ploy.  He goes on to say “We’re still the greatest little-man, big-man 1-2 punch ever created in the history of the game.”  They reunite on the West All-star side next month.

We now bring you the best excuse to be snubbed for the all-star team.  This week’s winner is Carmelo Anthony.  Melo was a little upset he got overlooked and said the injury had to be the key for not being selected.  He says “I didn’t think I did nothing wrong,”, “My game didn’t do nothing wrong. That’s the only thing that could have (hurt Anthony, is his injury).”  This isn’t a DUI questioning Carmelo; the media always asks questions after games.  Melo did deserve to be named to the West all-star team, just didn’t like his defense.

Andrew Bynum will not face a suspension by the league for his hit on Gerald Wallace.  Wallace suffered a collapsed lung after the Bynum forearm shiver.  Bynum says “I’m sending flowers to his hospital room.”  Bynum has stepped up his game this past month; he is also looking to represent the Lakers in Wrestlemania 25.  Kendrick Perkins hacked Maxiell last night so I can’t even make my Lakers are dirty case.  Instead, I’ll just move along…next topic!

Did someone say we’re going streaking?  Yes it’s true, the Celtics have got the mojo going again and have won 10 straight.  With the bench boys, House and Big Baby stepping it up, they’ve really showcased their toughness and 3-point shooting. They did snub Rondo and Ray Allen from the all-star game and now they’re pissed.  Cavaliers are 22-0 at home this season.  Holy Mo Williams!  This guy scares me and with big Z back in action, the Cavs look tough.  Should definitely be a fun second half of the season.

Farewell Lucky the mascot, he got fired (sweet justice). Can we hire MC Hammer now?  Think of the possibilities!  My my my my music…

Kung Pau and Co. beat Boston

I guess this is the part in the movie “Old School” where Frank the Tank gets picked up by his wife as he’s streaking down through the quad and then to the gymnasium.  The streak has ended. Who were we kidding pushing a Celtics at Lakers showdown on Christmas Day. This especially after the Celtics had won 19 straight; the best start in NBA history. I mean, we got so confident that we let Kobe and the Lakers starters work our bench into the same dirt they buried “Blue” in. The Lakers outran and outworked the Celtics in every aspect of the game. Ariza made enough plays to change the tempo while their defense contained any runs the Celtics were throwing back. Enough that the Celtics were buried before they even had a chance to look competitive.
Pau Gasol helped the Lakers beat the Celtics on Christmas night.

Pau Gasol (20 pts.) helped the Lakers beat the Celtics 92-83 on Christmas night.

Then there’s the final three minutes where they let the Jurassic Park ostrich, the lanky ass Pau Gasol, dominate with ease. Kobe played and scored for 45 minutes, the last three belonged to Kung Pau. The Celtic defense looked confused and off balance all day. They couldn’t penetrate to the hoop and really never got into a consistent offense. Two free throws going into half didn’t help the cause and made the laidback Lakers look heroic. Turnovers killed them and Tony Allen’s presence really drove me mad. He’s the type of guy who drives with speed then eventually crashes off a bridge and lands on some guy named Cheeeeeze!

Let’s face it, the Lakers played good enough to win. It was not the smoothest game but they pulled it off. But let’s remember what happens in this time of season. During these times called the holidays, an NBA player is summoned away from his family. Forced to travel cross country and leave his kids behind on the day they open their presents. Johnny got a new red truck. Where’s daddy when he’s opening his presents? Well folks, he was traveling to LA to entertain the millions watching at home. Maybe that’s why the streak ended. Maybe that’s why they looked so damn sloppy. Christmas is a time for family and friends…let’s think about that.

Alright that last paragraph was all BS, let’s just forget it and call it “dust in the wind.”  Got to go finish my Magic and Kobe interview, truly compelling stuff!

They can’t win EVERY game.

‘Twas the Week Before Christmas

Ho Ho Ho

Ho Ho Ho

Twas the week before Christmas so grab your salt shakers,
No NBA team was challenging Boston,
Not even Kobe and the Lakers.
All the banners are hung In the Garden with care,
In the hope Red is watching and the 18th will appear.
KG and the Truth, Perk, Rondo and Ray,
15 in a row, what a sun shiny day!

Then what to my wondering eyes should appear,
King James in the east with a bench who did more than cheer,
They picked up a point guard and I picked up a glass,
I would love for Perkins to beat Varejao’s ass.
But they’ve learned to play defense so will it all last,
Maybe bring the Celtics a challenge like one of year’s past,

Now the Lakers start is what everyone expected,
Oh they’ll win it all, with Bynum uncontested?
But just wait and see when their true colors are showing,
Their Euro players at the disco with their whistles a blowing.
So while Odom and Luke are enjoying the sun,
Toughness remains a question but no denying their run.

So there’s the top 3 and the pot still stirs,
The Magic, Mavs, Nuggets and the still mighty Spurs.
6 coaches now fired and trades yet to be working,
Only Chauncey and the Nuggnutts truly been lurking.
So if you got a ten piece now don’t be Stingy,
After all it’s christmas season, drink booze and binge!

Down the chimney he came with a leap and a bound,
But went straight to work with not even a sound.
He ate all his cookies and none went to waste…,
And as I remember he yelled out…”Kobe how’s my ass taste!”

Spread the cheer, have a beer!
