This week in the NBA

Not so Lucky!

Not so Lucky!

This week in the NBA, with so much time off and money piling up, Stephon Marbury decided to hold an online chat.  He basically explained his side of the holdout and proclaimed to the academy that he is not a selfish player.  He did support his cause saying

“I have averaged eight assists per game throughout my career.”  Good stat but he did show up late to the chat.  Not the best start to my Celtics approval interview.

The Shaq and Kobe feud is more like a Forrest Gump and Jenny relationship.  They go together like peas and carrots!  Shaq assured us all that the media made up the whole feud and it’s just another marketing ploy.  He goes on to say “We’re still the greatest little-man, big-man 1-2 punch ever created in the history of the game.”  They reunite on the West All-star side next month.

We now bring you the best excuse to be snubbed for the all-star team.  This week’s winner is Carmelo Anthony.  Melo was a little upset he got overlooked and said the injury had to be the key for not being selected.  He says “I didn’t think I did nothing wrong,”, “My game didn’t do nothing wrong. That’s the only thing that could have (hurt Anthony, is his injury).”  This isn’t a DUI questioning Carmelo; the media always asks questions after games.  Melo did deserve to be named to the West all-star team, just didn’t like his defense.

Andrew Bynum will not face a suspension by the league for his hit on Gerald Wallace.  Wallace suffered a collapsed lung after the Bynum forearm shiver.  Bynum says “I’m sending flowers to his hospital room.”  Bynum has stepped up his game this past month; he is also looking to represent the Lakers in Wrestlemania 25.  Kendrick Perkins hacked Maxiell last night so I can’t even make my Lakers are dirty case.  Instead, I’ll just move along…next topic!

Did someone say we’re going streaking?  Yes it’s true, the Celtics have got the mojo going again and have won 10 straight.  With the bench boys, House and Big Baby stepping it up, they’ve really showcased their toughness and 3-point shooting. They did snub Rondo and Ray Allen from the all-star game and now they’re pissed.  Cavaliers are 22-0 at home this season.  Holy Mo Williams!  This guy scares me and with big Z back in action, the Cavs look tough.  Should definitely be a fun second half of the season.

Farewell Lucky the mascot, he got fired (sweet justice). Can we hire MC Hammer now?  Think of the possibilities!  My my my my music…

NBA News: From Melo’s hand to Antoine canned

Walka Walka Walka!

Walka Walka Walka!

Now let me rant and ramble for a minute about the Celtics potentially getting Stephon Marbury.  After watching the Tony Allen train wreck against the Knicks, I’m up for it.  I’m ready to ride the rollercoaster that is Starbury.  I’ll buy the shirt, the shoes and shave a star into my head.  I miss Manny’s antics so much that I need some instability in my life.  It’s time to see where this ride takes us and who knows, we could actually have a ball handler on the bench besides Rondo.  With more whispers of a buyout from the Knicks, Marbury could sign sooner than later.  Buckle up; he’s putting me in a glass case of emotion.

Anyways, who knew DUI’s were the new big thing for 09’!

Antoine Walker was arrested and charged early Monday morning in Miami for suspicion of drunk driving.  Apparently he left his lights off in his Mercedes and his eyes appeared bloodshot.  He was also asked to walk the line and in good tickle me Toine’ fashion wiggled his way down.

Carmelo Anthony should be out for 3-4 weeks with a broken bone in his shooting hand.  Surgery will not be necessary but be sure to bet the under in the next Nuggets game, you’ll thank me later.

Heat released Shaun Livingston, Suns have released Dee Brown, Bucks have requested to put Austin Croshere on waivers and the Clippers waived Fred Jones and Paul Davis.

Tracy McGrady is beating himself up over his lackluster performance to start this NBA season saying “I criticize myself.”  He understands he can play better and looks to push himself through this slump. “In my mind, I think I’m going hard. But physically, I don’t have it.”  I think someone needs to spend a night with Barkley and Antoine. Maybe motorboat and make a few mistakes.  You’re still young!

Lebron James says he will keep the ‘crab dribble’ in his arsenal of moves.  He still believes his move was clean and not a travel in the final seconds of Sunday’s game.  He says he’s not worried if they take that move away, he’ll create something else.  Lebron, I’m just worried about when you travel to places like Indiana. What if you go and mix it up with the wrong crowd and get crabs?  If you do; stay mean, keep it clean and use that powder!

Starbury Victimized by Cockitis

It’s interesting how some athletes think they run the NBA because of their limelight and “star” or “fan” power. They become victims of Cockitis and eventually have to drop the –itis because of the public’s new persona of them. What is Cockitis you ask? Cockitis is a mental and emotional disease that causes you to believe your talent and power is far superior than it really is.

Starbury

Starbury

A great example of someone victimized by this is Stephon Marbury, or Starbury. Stephon was recently quoted in an interview saying “I’m still earning my check by doing nothing”. Putting the quote back into context, Stephon was speaking about his current situation with the New York Knicks.

Stephon and the Knicks have been in disagreement about his role as a team player. I’m not sure what the exact dispute is, but Stephon isn’t satisfied with his $21 million contract. That’s right – $21 million, and he’s not satisfied. He refused to play in two games this season and has since been docked from attending and playing at future games and practices until the dispute has been figured out – Though somehow he is still getting paid.

Knicks’ president Donnie Walsh tried speaking with Stephen about his contract, but he left in less than a half-hour because he wasn’t pleased with what he heard. These are just a few indications that Stephon has Cockitis.

The situation took a turn when Stephon attended the Knicks vs. Lakers game in Los Angeles, without permission. Apparently he didn’t violate Walsh’s request because he was a “paid fan”. What I don’t understand is Walsh didn’t want him there, D’Antoni didn’t want him there, the players didn’t want him there…Then why the f*ck was he there? Especially when he walked out on the Knicks because he didn’t like what he heard – That is typical Cockitis behavior.

To counter critics, Stephon stated he’d been training in Los Angeles and speaking with other teams. Hmmm – It better be a coincidence that he’s speaking with “other” teams while working out in LA, because I don’t think the Lakers need him on their roster. The Clippers on the other hand…

All I know is Cockitis is getting to his head more than that ugly Starbury imprint. Who’s he think he is, Mike Tyson with a wack @$$ face tat…? This just makes me not want to purchase anymore CHEAP Starbury gear at Steve & Barry’s. Well, that and the fact that Steve & Barry’s is going out of business.
